View it! is a suit of media search tools to show Wikimedia users (both editors and readers) Wikimedia Commons depicting - or otherwise related to- the article they are viewing. We will demonstrate how to install View it! and use it's functionality to add images across Wikimedia projects and discuss functionality and language localization.
View it! is a suite of media search tools to show Wikimedia users (both editors and readers) Wikimedia Commons depicting– or otherwise related to– the article they are viewing. This tool helps editors easily find and add relevant items to a given Wikimedia page and can be used across all Wikimedia projects and language versions. The tool allows users access to the full catalog of relevant, tagged images on Wikimedia Commons vs the finite, highly curated images you may find on a Wikipedia article or Wikidata item.

View it! has been localized into 21 different languages and used across various language projects. During the session, the presenters will walk attendees through how to add View it! to their accounts and add images on Wikipedia and Wikidata using View it! functionality. We will also discuss how to add functionality in other languages.
View it! was funded for development by the Wikimedia Foundation's Structured Data Across Wikimedia project and is now being maintained in a volunteer capacity. Our team will walk attendees through View it! 's capabilities and structured data usage. We will show how results have changed throughout development and discuss ways View it! has been found helpful for users.

View It! is a tool to encourage image discoverability across Wikimedia projects. It has been localized in 21 languages and has resulted in improved images on articles, and many articles finding illustration for the first time. View it! is meant to not only benefit readers and editors but also encourage cultural heritage institutions to utilize structured data on Commons in order to utilize View it! and further increase findability.

Jamie Flood has been editing since 2016 and has served as Senior Wikipedian at the United States National Agricultural Library since 2019. She is a founding member of the Wikimedians of Indiana User Group and has facilitated editing efforts across the country with various collaborators. Jamie is an experienced community organizer and collaborator and was the Community Manager for the development of the View it! tool. Jamie is passionate about editing around agriculture, women in STEM and other fields, and sharing cultural heritage collections on Wikimedia Commons.
Kevin Payravi (User:SuperHamster) is a software engineer from Dallas, Texas, and has been editing Wikimedia projects since 2007. In addition to day-to-day editing, Kevin has developed a number of tools to help wiki readers and editors, including Cite Unseen, View it!, and Indie Wiki Buddy. He also serves on the Board of Wikimedia DC and as an organizer for the Ohio Wikimedians User Group. Each year, he helps organize WikiConference North America and Wiki Loves Monuments in the United States.
