08-10, 15:30–16:55 (Poland), Istanbul (10)
Language: English

In the dynamic environment of the Wikimedia Movement, skill-sharing represents a cornerstone for growth and innovation. Yet, as we expand our horizons, a crucial question arises: Should our focus lie on increasing the quantity of skill-sharing activities, or enhancing their quality? This session aims to dissect the current landscape of skill-sharing within the Wikimedia Movement, evaluating the effectiveness of various initiatives and exploring who has access to these valuable resources.

Our discussion will pivot around identifying best practices and case studies from within the Wikimedia affiliates, examining successful models of skill-sharing that have demonstrably increased organizational capacity. We will delve into practical solutions that can help affiliates maximize the impact of skill-sharing activities, focusing on the optimization of limited time and resources to achieve mutual growth.

Key features of the session include:

  1. An in-depth analysis of existing skill-sharing activities, highlighting those that have proven most effective in enhancing the capabilities of Wikimedia affiliates.
  2. Interactive workshops where participants can share their experiences, challenges, and successes in skill-sharing, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  3. The development of a practical toolkit for affiliates, consisting of strategies, frameworks, and resources to implement or improve skill-sharing initiatives.
